Whether through capturing moments in time, expressing emotions through movement, or redefining beauty through design, these women inspire us to embrace our creativity and individuality. Their diverse perspectives enrich our cultural landscape and remind us of the importance of gender equality in every aspect of society.

Artistic Journey

When I graduated college and moved to NYC, I set out looking for opportunities to assist or intern. I repeatedly ran into instances where I was told point blank that they wouldn’t hire me because I was a woman— whether it was because they expected heavy lifting, or had a ‘protective’ wife, or a myriad of other reasons. This is not to say that all successful male photographers had the goal of excluding women, but it seemed that the opportunities I sought were often met with substantial resistance.

For that reason I do my best to support women and minorities through my internship and assisting opportunities.

What Would You Tell Your Younger Self?

You can’t make everyone happy, so don’t try. Find people who support and understand you, rather than trying to create work or a life that makes others happy.

This applies to photography, and truly to life in general.

Current Endeavour

Love is dance for me. Dance for me is all about connection. From connecting to myself to connecting to others while dancing, love is at the core of any true art form.

Lotus Works gallery is an arts and community wellness space that I founded with my husband, Aaron. We are both artists, so the mission of the space from its origin was to create a space that artists could gather, show their work and experiment with us. For us, we just wanted to create community and connection with wellness. The space features yoga, Pilates, Art Gallery Exhibitions, workshops, and the Gyrotonic method.

Artistic Journey

Fashion has been a constant presence in my life from the very beginning. It all started when my mom and I moved to a new country, Vietnam left behind. My mom, in her search to secure a future for us, turned to fashion as a means of livelihood. Those early days were marked by crafting clothes not just as a choice, but as a necessity.

Artistic Mission

It’s this belief I carry – that clothes can be a lot more than we give them credit for. They have this incredible power to empower, to shape someone’s confidence and outlook. I design for that woman who walks into a room and instantly captures attention, not just because of what she’s wearing, but because of how she carries herself.

The alignment of values between my brand and Printique has been instrumental in shaping the essence of “Fashioning Pages Of Life.” ( The 12×12 Hardcover Photo Book pictured above) Both of our entities hold individuality and creativity in high regard, and this shared ethos has beautifully influenced the content and visual aesthetics of the project.

We’re not just creating for ourselves; we’re creating for those who appreciate the beauty of creativity and embrace their unique identities. This synergy has driven us to ensure that “Fashioning Pages Of Life” transcends being just a book. It’s a conduit that connects like-minded individuals who share a passion for creativity, personal narratives, and the celebration of uniqueness.

Artistic Beginnings

it has been 25 years since I have been working professionally and it’s impossible to distill down. But I can tell you that some of the lows were as defining as the highs. Losing jobs because I wouldn’t change my name left as much of a mark on me as seeing my very first film in the theater. When I started out, people like me weren’t cast as the leads in mainstream film. When I look back at my film and TV work, I feel very proud at the broad range of characters and stories I was able to share. Most of my films were the first of their kind for the communities they were representing or the stories we were telling. I am most proud of the bold choices and indie grit behind all of the projects I was involved in.

Her photo book brought a smile to her face as she turned the pages and remembered each and every backdrop she made and the thought process that went into each one as well as the emotion she was trying to convey.

(8×8 Photo Tiles by Printique)

Balancing family and work was very hard in the beginning of growing my business. I found it very hard to have a real life. I would spend long hours at the office and traveling. I cherished the time I had with my family, but to be honest, in those early years, I wasn’t as present to them as I am now. I persisted and my company grew. The gift of aging helped a lot. I now understand how to have more balance. I only wish I had learned this earlier.

Lillian’s Spotlight can be found HERE.

As we look back at the amazing women we have featured throughout the year, we can’t help but get excited for the next to find more talent that deserves to be in the artist spotlight.
