According to his website, he was born in Atlanta and is now based in New York City. His love for photography started when he making skate videos. He received his B.F.A in film and television from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
According to Vogue, Mitchell shot Beyoncé just outside London amid the faded glamour of a dilapidated English country house. “When she sat down for me there was immediately the kind of comfort level you’d have with a friend, which was quite unexpected,” he says. “You’d imagine someone as famous as Beyoncé to be protective of her image, but she was really an open book—and that’s exactly what you want as a photographer.”
His work has been published in Teen Vogue, i-D Magazine, Dazed, Vogue US, Office Magazine, Candy Magazine and The FADER. His clients include Mercedes Benz, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Converse, Nike and Ray-Ban.
