Behind the Scenes at WPPI

Author: The Printique Team

Fresh off the heels of the Wedding and Portrait Photography International Expo (WPPI), we are ready to show you what goes on behind the scenes at WPPI and why it’s important for professional photographers to make the pilgrimmage to this annual convention.

1. Networking

WPPI Expo offers a prime opportunity for photographers to connect with like-minded individuals, forge new relationships, and expand their professional circles. Whether it’s exchanging ideas with fellow photographers, meeting potential clients and collaborators, or rubbing shoulders with industry professionals, the networking opportunities at WPPI Expo are unparalleled.

Through, Susan Stripling’s WPPI platform, we connected with wedding photographers throughout the country looking to ease their daily workload using AI.

If you’re shy and large groups are not your scene, you can join one of the photo walks where there are smaller groups that are easier to connect with others.

Here, photographer Ana Anti shows a small group how you can easily create conceptual photos on a budget.

2. Educational Value

Attendees at WPPI Expo gain access to so much knowledge through workshops, seminars, and live demonstrations conducted by industry experts. From learning new techniques and trends in photography to gaining insights from experienced speakers and educators, the educational value of WPPI Expo is unmatched.

At the Adorama Booth, we got to meet Kesha Lambert and see how she works with models and lighting.

3. Exposure to New Products and Technologies

Exploring the expo floor at WPPI Expo is like stepping into a playground for photographers. Here, you can get hands-on experience with the latest gear, equipment, and software solutions. From trying out cutting-edge technology to discovering innovative products to enhance your photography workflows, WPPI Expo is a treasure trove of inspiration for photographers.

For example, they have shooting bays where you can photograph models and sample different lighting techniques.

4. Inspiration and Motivation

Immerse yourself in a creative environment at WPPI Expo, where you’ll find inspiration around every corner. From exposure to diverse styles and approaches to photography to the opportunity to rekindle your passion and enthusiasm for the craft, attending WPPI Expo is sure to reignite your creative spark.

We met Matthew from Cedar and Silver who brought his bellows camera out and did tin type photos. He had a mini dark room set up and then put the tins into the chemicals and we saw the portraits come to life within seconds.

5. Business Opportunities

For photographers looking to grow their businesses, WPPI Expo offers a platform to showcase their work, connect with potential clients, and learn about effective marketing strategies and business practices. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out, WPPI Expo provides valuable opportunities to expand your professional network and establish partnerships that can propel your career forward.

WPPI Expo is not just another photography event—it’s a transformative experience that offers photographers a multitude of benefits. From networking opportunities and educational value to exposure to new products and technologies, inspiration, motivation, and business opportunities, WPPI Expo is a must-attend event for anyone serious about their photography career. So, mark your calendars, next year it will be at the RIO in Las Vegas March 18-20, 2025.
