Printing Family Photos with Photographer Elizabeth Stahn

Author: Libby - Printique by Adorama

Every once in awhile, we come across a photographer who literally takes our breath away. Elizabeth “Liz” Stahn creates images that bring out the emotions of child-like wonder. She shows us the innocence of childhood with simplicity and warmth. There is a stillness and calmness to her photos. Now what’s more amazing? She’s a mom to 6 kids ages 18 months to 14 years old, running her business and is a Click Pro Member. Yes, she truly does it all.

Not only does she do it all, she always takes time to photograph her children and print the photos. She believes in tangible photos for her kids to touch, hold and cherish the memories along the way. She is building a physical photo legacy for her children in today’s digital world. Here’s her story:

Tell Us a Little About Yourself

I’m a mama to 6 beautiful kiddos ranging in age from 14 to 18 months. Some of my favorite things to do are take hikes with my family, bake, antiquing, crafting, and of course photography.

I’ve always been artistic ever since I can remember, and I had a few film cameras while growing up that I loved playing around with, but it wasn’t until a film class in high school that I really fell in love with it. I took a break from it for awhile and came back around to it once I started having children.

I think my aesthetic is mainly inspired by things I love. I love the style and colors of certain time periods and love to incorporate that into my work for example.

Why Do You Print?

For me printing my work is important because I want to have those memories in hand. With so many things being digital now I feel like it’s extra important to have things like photographs in hand to pass down to my children and so on.

I wouldn’t be able to do it all without having a supportive husband. He is always willing to go along with my wild ideas and make time for my photography as well as being an equal partner in raising our 6 children.
