Wildflorus: Shawangunk (B-Side) with Bradford Devins / OWLEY Studios
This spring, our Hallway Gallery comes alive with the vibrant, organic work of Hudson Valley artist Bradford Devins AKA OWLEY Studios, whose recent exhibition Wildflorus: Shawangunk (B-Side) transforms the white walls of our Brooklyn lab into a blossoming urban nature escape. This is the first time in over a year that we’ve reactivated the hallway space with an artist’s work, and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting reawakening.
Bradford, a returning Printique customer, approached us with a vision: to bring New York’s vibrant wildflowers to the hallway space as a means of seeing ourselves through nature – a continuing focus of his body of work. “I have met multiple amazing artists in this hallway while picking up orders and wanted to give something inspiring with connection to the natural world just outside of the city. In moving to the Hudson Valley after a near decade in Brooklyn, I have found equally as important stories in nature as with documenting the stories of people; we can see ourselves through it if we pay attention. The new mediums Printique offered for this collaboration allowed me to tell these stories in a new way and I hope that this installation gives people a moment of calm and presence when they are in the space.
Brad’s exhibition spans a variety of Printique products, showcasing the unique textures and depth of each medium:
Handcrafted Metal Prints: Circular 16 inch prints on glossy white and a large 40×60 statement piece bring his organic subjects to life with reflective depth and vibrancy.
Wood Prints: Natural grains add warmth and texture, complementing the earthy tones of his wildflowers.
Canvas Works: Soft yet impactful, highlighting the details and layers in each composition.
Hardcover Classic Photo Book: Perks of Being a Wildflower sits on display in the gallery, a tangible archive of his explorations with Owley Studio. The book, printed with care at Printique, allows visitors to experience his research and storytelling in hand-held form, highlighting both the technical precision and poetic vision of his work.
I’ve been doing the framing myself for a while, and it is so nice to rely on a studio like Printique that can make them so exquisitely.“Printique is so fast and reliable. They’ve been there for me through years of projects, so this is a bit of a 360 moment where I can have my work in the space.
Bradford’s journey to photography and filmmaking began in Brooklyn, where he moved in 2016 as an environmental engineer. Immersed in the city’s creativity, he began filming muralists and street artists, teaching himself video editing, and opening a new avenue for storytelling under the alias “OWLEY”, then hiring teams and scaling to projects across the world for major brands and organizations. Over time, his focus shifted back to nature, capturing the wildflowers of the Shawangunk Mountains and bringing the Hudson Valley’s quiet complexity into urban spaces. He currently lives and works between the Hudson Valley and New York City.
The Wildflorus: Shawangunk series explores beauty found in the complexity of wildflower stories, rather than devaluing them through the generalization of “weeds”, Drawing on decades of historic texts, Bradford connects the stories of local wildflowers to human experiences—showing that, like these resilient blooms, beauty can thrive even in unexpected or inhospitable places. The exhibition specifically highlights the “B-Side”: works that have never been shown before, printed in the vast sizes and materials offered by Printique while lending to the Brooklyn side, where wildflowers can still be seen growing through concrete or in parks, if we take the time to look. “The outtakes of some of my favorite albums are sometimes my favorite. What I find of little value may be greatly valued by others. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.” Bradford notes.
Bradford R. Devins is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Hudson Valley, working with photography, filmmaking, installation, music, writing, and projection. His practice explores how humans can better understand themselves and their environment through nature, while creating accessibility for those removed from it. He began documenting artists in Brooklyn under the alias “OWLEY Studios” and continues to preserve art, humanity, and nature through his work today.
“I express my gratitude for nature’s immense awe and healing by capturing it, studying it, and bringing it to others. It is absolute truth to me, and I believe we will always need it.”
From handcrafted metal and wood prints to a hardcover photo book on display, Bradford’s exhibition reminds us that even small moments in nature—like noticing a wildflower growing through concrete—can offer insight, beauty, and a reflection of ourselves.
Wildflorus: Shawangunk (B-Side) is now on display in our Hallway Gallery at Printique, a vivid testament to nature’s resilience and the power of art to bring it into the heart of the city.
