This spring, our Hallway Gallery comes alive with the vibrant, organic work of Hudson Valley artist Bradford R. Devins AKA Owley Studio, whose recent exhibition Wildflorus: Shawangunk transforms the white walls of our Brooklyn lab into a blossoming urban nature escape. This is the first time in over a year that we’ve reactivated the hallway space with an artist’s work, and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting reawakening.
Brad, a returning Printique customer, approached us with a vision: to see his photography of wildflowers not just online or in portfolios, but fully realized in a physical space. “I had met multiple artists in this hallway before and was elated to see my work in print, blooming a stark and cold space,” he shared. “The colors of these wildflowers warm the space and create a real sense of presence.”
Brad’s exhibition spans a variety of Printique products, showcasing the unique textures and depth of each medium:
“I’ve been doing the framing myself for a while, and it is so nice to rely on a studio like Printique that can make them so exquisitely,” Brad says. “Printique is so fast and reliable. They’ve been there for me through years of projects, so this is a bit of a 360 moment where I can have my work in the space.”
Brad’s journey to photography and filmmaking began in Brooklyn, where he moved in 2016 as an engineer. Immersed in the city’s creativity, he began filming muralists and street artists, teaching himself video editing, and opening a new avenue for storytelling. Over time, his focus shifted back to nature, capturing the wildflowers of the Shawangunk Mountains and translating the Hudson Valley’s quiet complexity into urban spaces. He currently lives and works in the Hudson Valley, New York.
Wildflorus: Shawangunk explores the beauty found in complexity. Drawing on decades of historic texts, Brad connects the stories of local wildflowers to human experiences—showing that, like these resilient blooms, beauty can thrive even in unexpected or inhospitable places. The exhibition also features B-Sides: works that have never been shown before, printed in the vast sizes and materials offered by Printique. “The outtakes of some of my favorite albums are sometimes my favorite. What I find of little value may be greatly valued by others. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder,” Brad notes.
Bradford R. Devins is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Hudson Valley, working with photography, filmmaking, installation, music, writing, and projection. His practice explores how humans can better understand themselves and their environment through nature, while creating accessibility for those removed from it. He began documenting artists in Brooklyn under the alias Owley Studio and continues to preserve art, humanity, and nature through his work today.
“I express my gratitude for nature’s immense awe and healing by capturing it, studying it, and bringing it to others. It is absolute truth to me, and I believe we will always need it,” Brad says.
From handcrafted metal and wood prints to a hardcover photo book on display, Brad’s exhibition reminds us that even small moments in nature—like noticing a wildflower growing through concrete—can offer insight, beauty, and a reflection of ourselves.
Wildflorus: Shawangunk is now on display in our Hallway Gallery at Printique, a vivid testament to nature’s resilience and the power of art to bring it into the heart of the city.
