Big City, Little Moments: NYC Photographer Jamie King

NYC photographer Jamie King is a landscape photographer who has called New York City home for the last four years. Simply existing within the city’s stunning architecture spurs King’s passion for photography.

“The NY skyline is so special that I just can’t help but want to capture it from every possible angle,” King shared.

As King explores the city through his lens, he has an objective in mind: “I always want to capture pictures that will make people fall in love with New York,” he says. He hopes to “provide a reminder of how beautiful this city really is.” We can confidently say that King has been successful in his mission, and photographs like the one below confirm it.

King also shared a particular soft spot he has when photographing the city.

“I’m mostly a sunset photographer,” he says, “I love capturing those warm colors behind our skyline.” With results like the photograph below, we’re glad King has a disposition for sunset shots. We can’t wait to see what he makes with this year’s upcoming winter sunsets.

“One of the things I love most about photography is that no matter how many times you go to the exact same location, the exact same spot, you’ll never take the same picture twice,” King says.

It’s a special condition of New York City that makes being a photographer here so challenging, yet equally rewarding.

With the impressive collection King has put together in just the few years he’s been living in New York City, we’re eager to follow along with his photography journey as he continues to explore this concrete jungle.

“I guess my next challenge is to be a sunrise photographer,” King says, “but I do like my sleep!”
