Next up in our Artist Spotlight series are Gina Esposito and Sheena Meekins, photography duo and founders of Anée Atelier — a New York City-based boutique photography studio.
With a degree in photographic imaging and a passion for capturing truth, Gina’s technical prowess allows her to flow seamlessly, documenting life and creating art in both film and digital mediums. Often relying on her innate ability to read a room, Gina credits her most powerful captures to an inherent sense of intuition that allows her to see past the present, in anticipation of key moments to follow. Those moments are where Gina’s passion becomes purpose, and purpose—the preeminent photography that has become synonymous with her name.
After nine years of leading her own photography studio, a creative partnership felt natural. In the pursuit of offering the most elevated level of service to a discerning clientele, Gina co-founded Anée Atelier in 2016, alongside best friend, Sheena Meekins. Together, the pair lead the New York City-based boutique photography studio with a foundation of creative play and utmost excellence, not only at the core of the company but within the souls of the two women at its helm.
In her free time, Gina can be found exploring remote locations via 4×4, drone or any place the inexplicably poor navigation skills of best friend/frequent co-pilot, Sheena Meekins may take them.
During her time at Condé Nast and Time Inc., Sheena worked for titles including Teen Vogue, Vogue, People, StyleWatch and Essence Magazine. The two-time Marketer of the Year specialized in content creation for brand partners across the fashion and retail industries.
A desire for creative pursuits outside the world of magazines led her to follow her passion for photography full-time. Her dynamic background and spirited vision can be seen throughout her work—an elevated aesthetic informed by the Vogue standard, an eye for culture developed in New York City and a playful curiosity all her own.
On any given day, you can find Sheena lost in her latest music obsession, plotting her next international adventure or coming up with a clever list of alternative nicknames, because yes, “Sheena and Gina” definitely rhyme.
Best friends Gina and Sheena have been in the photography and editorial industries for almost two decades and have joined forces to create their company, Anée Atelier. Anée Atelier specializes in capturing love stories like no other and memorializing the most special day of a couple’s lives.
As wedding photographers, Gina & Sheena understand the importance of connecting with their clients to create a comfortable environment. Sheena explains that building trust and “speaking the same language” as the client allows for unforgettable moments to be captured.
Gina and Sheena have since expanded their love for photography on a global scale; capturing destination weddings in beautiful locations all over the world. Our team followed these experts to Los Angeles, California to capture a wedding at Dodgers Stadium.
