Fashion is ever present. It encompasses popular styles in clothing and accessories, including foot wear, makeup, and jewelry. What is fashionable to wear is dictated by designers, models, and celebrities. From runway shows to ads and retail store promotions, current trends in fashion are shared through various types of media, but primarily through photographs.
In order to bring you the best in fashion trends, one needs a skilled fashion/portrait photographer. Fashion and portrait photography have a lot in common, which is why you see so much cross over between the two. It’s hard to be good at fashion photography without being a good portrait photographer, because a photographer’s ability to capture the emotion of the model is a key to engaging with the audience.

6. John Rankin Waddell (Rankin)
In addition to having his work published, British fashion and portrait photographer, Rankin launched his own fashion magazines. His photography led him to work with the BBC’s Top Model shows.


5. Sebastian Kim
New York based photographer Sebastian Kim has a clientele list that includes the likes of L’Oreal and Calvin Klein, and has work that’s been featured in magazines such as GQ Style and Vogue.


4. Todd Anthony Tyler
Fashion photographer and art director Todd Anthony Tyler works out of Shanghai, China. He has worked with Adidas, L’Oreal Paris, Ritz-Carlton Hotels, and Uma Wang. His photos appear in Elle China, Harper’s Bazaar China, and Vogue China, just to name a few. His success is not limited to China, though. Tyler’s work is also published in American magazines, such as GQ.


3. Kai Z Feng
Originally from Shanghai, Kai Z Feng, became an international name among fashion and portrait photographers after moving to London. His work has been published in versions of Vogue around the world, and features many well-known actors including Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, and Nicole Kidman.


2. Nick Knight
World renowned fashion photographer, Nick Knight has done photo shoots for top notch clients such as Calvin Klein, Dior, Lancôme, and Levi Strauss. He’s also worked with several designers including Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and Yohji Yamamoto. His work has been featured in various Vogue publications, as well as several other fashion magazines.


1. Peter Lindbergh
Part of the impetus of the supermodel era, Peter Lindbergh helped establish the careers of several models, including Cindy Crawford. He is known for his work with Vogue and Pirelli. Much of his work is in black and white, as he feels it better captures the features of his models.
