5 Tips on Making a Floral Photo Book

Author: The Printique Team

Spring is nearly here and it’s a great time to get outside and photograph the world in bloom.  Creating a beautiful photo book of flowers is a great way to bring the beauty of spring into your home as a colorful coffee table book.  Here are five helpful hints on how to make a floral photo book that is an everlasting garden of delight.
1.PICK A COLOR SCHEME
Page designs look lovely when they color coordinate.  Make it a mission to find flowers of a similar tone and color to create a page that harmonizes.  Searching for flowers and foliage with similar colors is a great game to play when you are out hiking with the family too….kind of a floral “I-Spy” game.

2.GO BLACK AND WHITE
You can focus on the form and composition of natural elements when you eliminate color and go Black and White with your photographs.  Black and White magically turns photos into art because it turns the images from what it “looks like” to what it “feels like”.

3.NOT THE USUAL SUSPECTS
Look for interesting angles and lighting when you are photographing nature.  Photograph the object the way your normally would, then change it up!  Walk around, lay down on the ground, shoot directly down, watch the light change.  Look for interesting stories in your photographs.  Taking a new look at how your photograph things will make you more creative and your images more interesting.

4.IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
Nature is glorious in its design.  When you focus on the details of flowers, you can really see the beauty on the structure of each petal.  Try getting in close and using a macro lens to really focus on those beautiful little details.

5. ADD A LITTLE LIFE
Including people or animals in your images with your flower photos will add a bit more to your story.  Look for bees, butterflies, and insects buzzing around the blossoms or photograph your kids or pets in the garden.
