Photographers Traveling Solo – Why It's Important

Author: Libby - Printique by Adorama

Wanderlust is defined as  a strong desire for or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world.

Some people might think that traveling alone is scary, especially for a woman – but it doesn’t have to be! It can also be an unforgettable experience that will leave you with countless memories, stories, and photos. We ladies are tough! A lot tougher than most give us credit for, which is why every woman should try a solo trip at least once in their lives. Here are 7 reasons why women photographers should consider traveling solo by Printique Ambassador Jennifer Longo from her travel blog  A Girl and Her Travel Bug: adoramapixtravel 1. You’ll be Empowered Women have been trying to slice through the thick smoke of sexism for years. While women’s rights have improved tremendously over time, many people still act as if we’re incapable of doing anything on our own. Traveling solo is one of the most surprisingly empowering things a woman can do! It shows everyone else that we don’t need our hand held on a daily basis and that we have the ability to take care of ourselves.
2. You’ll Make Amazing Friends If you’re open to it, you can meet some incredible people during solo travels. Whether you’re sitting in the airplane or walking a gorgeous coastline, people become curious when they see people out by themselves. Don’t miss out on talking to interesting people, but of course, be smart and proceed with caution. adoramapixtravel2 3. You’ll See More The nice thing about solo travel is that you don’t have to worry about anyone else telling you what to do. The world is your oyster! Go anywhere and everywhere you want – without anyone giving you a hard time. So hop in the car, blare your music, and go some place amazing!
4. You’ll Gain Respect While many people might be confused as to why you would want to travel on your own, many others will respect you for it. Most people wouldn’t even dream of going somewhere on their own, particularly another state or country. When you travel solo, you’re getting out of your bubble and showing everyone you can be independent. Who doesn’t respect a woman who can hold her own?adoramapixtravel3 5. You’ll Gain Confidence you didn’t Know You Had. When the trip is over, you’ll see your confidence soar! It’s amazing when you see how much more you’re willing to do on your own. Chances are, you’ll come back with a lot of great stories to share and the desire to go and do it again.
6. Because the World Isn’t as Scary as it Seems. The biggest reason women won’t travel alone is fear. The media streams a constant flow of terrifying stories on a daily basis, so it’s no wonder! Once you enter unknown territory, you will realize the world isn’t as scary as the media likes to make it seem. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t proceed with caution! This simply means that most people are out to help you – not out to get you, and you’ll see that when you give it a try.
7. You’ll Take Awesome Selfies! Ok, so imagine you’re at a really beautiful location with an incredible view and yet….no one is around to take your photo! You’ll definitely find yourself attempting a selfie. And if you can manage to squeeze your face and that awesome background in the frame – you have the ultimate selfie for everyone else to envy! adoramapixtravel4   Thank you Jennifer.
